Informative and tactile graphics in Dr. Jen Gunther’s low-down on debunking detoxes
We’ve worked with TED across several projects and this time, they wanted supplemental animations to illustrate key scientific points in a video of Dr. Jen Gunther’s spirited talk dispelling commenly-held ideas about detoxes and how our livers work.
The graphics needed to be accurate when it came to anatomical depictions and complement Gunther’s convivial personality in the filmed footage.
In light of the topic, we decided to get visceral, opting for a hybrid of claymation and plasticine-like 3D models that would invoke the classroom staple of anatomical models. As the episode is part of a wider series that’s firmly grounded in science, but casual in tone, we took the art direction into a vibrant aesthetic that would match Gunther’s energy and put the physicality of bodily organs centre stage.
